Professional Experience

Currently, I working full-time on data analysis and research for the SLOCAT Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (since December 2016). I’m the Director of Data Analysis and Research with responsibilities on supervising the collection and analysis of any data relevant for transport, climate change and sustainable development. The data feeds into SLOCAT knowledge products and advocacy activities. I’m based in Seoul since 2012.

Nikola Medimorec

Current Work

Director, Data Analysis and Research, SLOCAT Partnership

October 2021 to present

I’m leading the research work for SLOCAT by developing methodologies, strategies and tools in support of knowledge products and advocacy. I conduct and oversee any research and data analysis efforts for SLOCAT’s flagship reports, such as the Transport, Climate and Sustainability Global Status Report. Another main responsibility is also the management of the SLOCAT-VREF Young Leaders in Sustainable Transport programme.

Past Work Experience

Senior Researcher, SLOCAT Partnership

July 2017 – September 2021

I conducted data collection and analysis for knowledge products and advocacy activities. I ensured the completion of the first SLOCAT Global Status Report on Transport, Climate and Sustainability, by producing all figures, key indicators and data.

Consultant, SLOCAT Partnership

December 2016 – June 2017

The main responsibilities were on delivering research and data for country fact sheets, reports, public interventions and any other activities. I introduced new techniques and tools to improve operations and knowledge management.

Green Transport Consultant,  Global Green Growth Institute

October 2015 – December 2016

My main responsibility was to support the sustainable transport activities of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). To better understand the needs of developing countries in terms of transport, I developed an indicator-based assessment and a conceptual approach to map suitable policy actions.

Consultant, The Korea Transport Institute

Aug 2015 – Sep 2015

The assignment for the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI) was to write a case study about benefit indicators in the cost-benefit analysis for the German federal road planning sector. I researched and analyzed how Germany does cost-benefit analysis and explain in detail the calculation of benefits in the appraisal.

Internships

Intern, CITYNET AP

July – Aug 2013

My main task during the internship was to organize a joint seminar of the Korea Transport Institute and Citynet on sustainable urban transport with transport experts from GIZ, UITP, Seoul Metropolitan Government and National University of Singapore for 30 civil servants from local governments in Asia.

Teaching Assistant, University of Trier

Oct 2011 – Feb 2012

For a semester I was a teaching assistant in the department of Cartography at the University of Trier. My task was to show sophomore students (a group of around 20 students) how to use ESRI ArcGIS and to solve assignments. I had to mark their homework and keep track of their attendance as well.

Intern, The Korea Transport Institute

Jun – Jul 2011

For six weeks I was an intern in the division “Green Convergence” of the biggest Korean think tank about transportation. During that time I have done a research about pedestrian-related computer software and vertical transport. The internship gave me the opportunity to learn about transportation issues of Korea.
